Perfect Home in Cuzco

This is one of those perfect places that you hate to tell others about because then it will get so busy you can never get a booking! But in the interest of being a good traveler, I will tell. This place has everything going for it. First the location, just steps off the main square. The staff was warm, friendly, SO helpful. Breakfast include a beautiful bread basket and a plate of fruit along with eggs. In the evening they had unlimited hot water for your coca tea or coffee. The room was comfortable and had heat.

Great hostal with excellent staff

We stayed at Hostal El Peregrino 2 nights, then stored our bags there and went to Machu Picchu, then came back for a final night. You can't beat the staff for helpfulness. They are great!! Everything went off without a hitch. When our poor attempt at Spanish went awry, we used our translator app. Everyone had a good time with that! :-D They have someone on duty all night long. The wi-fi worked all of the time. Nice clean hotel in a central location. What more can one ask for? Thanks Hostal El Peregrino for making our stay in Cusco an enjoyable one.

I keep coming back to Hostal El Peregrino

I've stayed at Hostal El Peregrino on my last 3 trips to Cusco. It was originally recommended to me by a colleague who had also stayed there regularly over the years and who found out about it through her local contacts. The location is ideal and the service is excellent. It's literally just steps away from the Plaza de Armas (the historic center of Cusco), and easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Locally owned and operated, the staff are welcoming and attentive, from arranging an airport pickup and serving coca tea when you arrive (or whenever you need it to help with acclimatization to the altitude) to helping with luggage, changing money, and providing all sorts of local information. A wonderful, delicious breakfast is served each morning, included in the cost of the room. Wi-fi is fast and free. Showers are hot enough to steam the mirrors. Clean, comfy, snuggle-worthy bedding. I love this place! I can't imagine finding a better value for the money in Cusco. The only downside is that it's not handicapped-accessible -- you have to walk up stairs to get to the lobby and guest rooms -- so I wouldn't be able to stay here if I were traveling with my elderly mom.

Perfect location

Great base for our family expedition! The location just off the main square cannot be beaten, nor the warm and genuine service from the staff. Ok, it's no frills, and our family room was a little cramped. But the rooms are clean, the beds cosy, and the shower is hot. What else do you need?We were also touched by the little gifts given to our kids on departure. Highly recommended.

Excellent hostel with lovely staff

Stayed in Cusco prior to going onto Machu Picchu, on our return ended up staying at the same hostel! Lovely comfy beds, very clean and welcoming, staff were so lovely, especially the young woman who served us breakfast every morning, (best breakfast ever!). Wonderful central location, can be a bit noisy at times as there is always something going on in the square, but this wasn't really a problem. We stayed in September, (four sisters who shared one room), and had a fabulous time. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Cusco.

WOW, I highly recommend Hostal El Peregrino if you are staying in Cusco! The hostal is located directly off the main square and the rooms are excellent. We arrived after a night of flying, and they kindly allowed us to use a room at 6am so we could sleep even though check-in time was at 10am. The staff recommended great restaurants for us also. Wifi was excellent in the hotel room, and the room was equipped with hot water, heater, and a hair dryer. And they aren't just showing off with pics of towel origami - - they looked even better in person!! Free breakfast was amazing as well. We left Cusco for a five day Machu Picchu hike, and the staff kindly kept our bags safe (free of charge) during that time. When we returned for one more night of stay, the staff had even left a little gift for each of us in our room! I would stay here again in a heartbeat! You'd be hard-pressed to find a friendlier staff and/or nicer accommodations for the price. Stay here!

The Best Lodging for the money

South America can be very loud. Many hotels are noisy all night. This hotel is quiet. Very quiet as long as you don't book rooms 4,5 or 6. Those rooms are next to the lobby/dining area and you will hear noise. We stayed in rooms 8 and 9 and didn't hear a peep. We were so happy to find this place. It is 100 feet from Plaza de Armas which is the city center loaded with everything you will want or need to find. Pay with Solis and you get a better rate.

Clean, friendly and convenient

My wife and I stayed here for almost a week and can't recommend it highly enough. It's perfectly located, right on the Plaza de Armas. The beds are comfortable, the breakfast is substantial, the staff are friendly and the wifi is good. Great choice all round.
